YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A professional athlete spoke to students at Stambaugh Charter Academy in Youngstown on Tuesday about the challenges and successes in his life.

Former NBA player Michael Morrison had to overcome dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, and an early run-in with the law to become the first member of his family to get a scholarship to college, and the first player from Loyola to be drafted.

"There's stories to be told and I believe that everyday people, not necessarily professional athletes, have a responsibility that if you have overcame something, tell the person next to you. Cause, they really need to know it to help them believe, that they too can overcome something they're struggling with," said Morrison.

Morrison, who used to play for the Phoenix Suns, also spoke to students at Choffin Career Center.
