Ohio has expanded its restrictions on teenage drivers holding probationary licenses.

The new laws, now in effect state-wide, specifically pertain to probationary drivers between the ages of 16 and 18.

Now, such drivers under the age of 18 will no longer be permitted to drive with more than one non-family member in the vehicle during their first year of driving.

According to All Star Driving School, the previous law only put such a restriction in place until the driver turned 17.

Another new measure limits probationary drivers under 18 to a curfew between midnight and 6:00 a.m.

Those affected will not be able to drive between those times unless they are travelling with a parent or guardian or have a work, school, or church related exemption.

The law previously existed in a slightly different form.  All Stars says the 12:00-6:00 a.m. curfew used to only apply to 16-year olds.  The curfew for 17-year olds was set at 1:00-5:00 am.

The new measure simply put all teen drivers with probationary licenses under the same curfew.
