EXCLUSIVE: Man pulled from a fiery fatal accident in Canfield Twp. shares his story

CANFIELD TWP., Ohio - A 22-year-old Austintown man, who was pulled from a fiery fatal crash on Tuesday in Canfield Township, is sharing more about the moments leading up to the accident.
Damian Ouellette tells 21 News that he and 23-year-old Tesla Haberger of Mineral Ridge were singing and dancing to a song, while driving on Raccoon Road.
He admits Haberger took a curve near Burgett Road too fast. According to the State Highway Patrol, the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt that Haberger was driving went left of center and drove head-on into an approaching 2013 Honda Accord. The Cobalt almost immediately burst into flames.
Haberger was killed in the accident.
"I walked away with minor injuries and I feel that's not fair. She was wearing her seat belt and everything I wasn't," said Ouellette. "Why am I the one to walk away with a couple of scratches and cuts?"
Ouellette recalls seeing the Honda coming towards them and says he heard tires screeching. He says, he then blacked out for a moment.
"I noticed the car was filling with smoke and stuff and I could hear people outside and I started screaming, like 'Hey, help. We're in here. We're in here. Help," said Ouellette.
Workers with Boak and Sons, Inc. were repairing a nearby roof. They rushed to the scene and were able to pull Ouellette from the car but, were unable to save Haberger.
"I told them 'No get her, get her, get her' and they just kept dragging me out," said Ouellette.
Ouellette was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. He says, he will undergo surgery on Friday for a fractured hip.
He says, he is thankful to the men who saved him but, wishes more could have been done.
"I don't think she deserved it one bit, she had family and friends that cared about her. She was a way better person than I could ever be," said Ouellette.
But, if anything Ouellette now realizes how quickly life can change.
"I was a speed demon. I never thought anything like that could ever happen," said Ouellette. "It makes me realize things are real and things can just happen and the people you have in your life and stuff like that don't take for granted you never know when they're going to be gone."
Investigators say 75 year-old Frank Costa of Canfield, who was driving the Honda, was not seriously injured.
