YSU allowing beer sales at Penguin football games
Penguin fans will be able to buy beer at home football games for the first time in the 35 year history of Stambaugh Stadium.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Penguin fans will be able to buy beer at home football games for the first time in the 35 year history of Stambaugh Stadium.
Youngstown State University officials announced on Tuesday that they hope to begin beer sales at the first home game against Robert Morris on Saturday.
Up until now, football fans had to enjoy their beer in the tailgate lots before the games.
Students who spoke with 21 News believe the beer sales will help increase ticket sales. But, the decision is getting a mixed reaction.
"Mixing alcohol into it could give the hint of a bit of rowdiness," said YSU student Tristan Kile. "Especially if the game isn't going the way the students feel like it should."
"I don't see it as a big deal. I'm 21, I'll know my limit when I get there," said YSU student Monique Lopez. "I mean they're just selling and if they're i.d.ing then I don't see it as a really big deal."
At the MVR a different generation of Penguin fans also weighed in on the decision to sell beer inside the stadium.
"You've got tailgating going on before the game, so I don't think it's a problem once you're in the stadium. I think it can be policed," said YSU fan David Leetch.
"Let's be honest, the people that want to drink are going to drink outside the stadium and come in. I don't think it's a big deal either way, but I think I would like to be able to buy a beer while I'm in there," said YSU fan Leonard Mochtyak.
Athletic Director Ron Strollo tells 21 News that he believes YSU is the last university in Ohio to sell beer at football games.
Strollo says beer is already being sold at Ohio State, Kent State and the University of Akron games.
The University sold beer at Penguin basketball games this past season on a trial basis.
