YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Seven schools in the Mahoning Valley have levies on the ballot next week.
Tuesday night, 21 News asked a local candidate for the Ohio House the question: How do we fix school funding?
At the Mahoning County Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner, we spoke with the Republican candidate for the 58th District of the Ohio House David Simon.
If elected, he wants to write a bill to get rid of the rainy day fund.
"I want to be able to release the money and give it back to the property owners who have been punished, who have been punished for the last 8, 10 years and then releasing that and then not putting more money into the rainy day fund will help the school system," he said.
A long list of Republican candidates were at the dinner, including keynote speaker Congressman Jim Renacci who is running for Senate.
