SHARON, Pa. - State Street Bridge in Sharon is going to start looking a lot different at night.

It's been a long time coming for Sharon's Beautification Commission, but Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. they will flip the switch on the new lighting for the State Street Bridge.

Color changing LED lights have been installed all around the downtown bridge in an effort to make Sharon look better than ever.

"We have been working diligently for the last several years to beautify downtown Sharon. This is just another step. WaterFire has become a huge economic component, not only to Sharon but to the region," said Laura Ackley of the Sharon Beautification Commission.

The only time the lights won't be on will be during WaterFire.

The colors you see on the bridge will change depending on the season or the type of holiday. For instance, on the 4th of July, it will be all red, white, and blue.

"World Autism Day on April 2nd, we'll go blue. For Hunger Action Month in September, we'll go orange. We'll do pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. I think the lighting designer told me there are 16 million combinations of colors that can be created. We won't go through 16 million tonight," added Ackley.

The $30,000 LED lighting project was funded entirely through private donations.

The next beautification project will be to cover up Silver Street Bridge with multi-colored canvases and spotlight that as well.
