VIENNA TWP., Ohio - The public will get a first look Friday at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station's $8.5 million state-of-the-art firing range.

The range will be unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled Friday morning at the base in Vienna Township.

910th Airlift Wing commander, Col. Dan Sarachene, will make remarks at the ceremony, followed by the ribbon cutting.

The new facility replaces an outdoor semi-covered structure that is more than 30-years-old.

The indoor range will allow airmen to qualify on all the weapons they use including side arms, shotguns and heavy weapons.

The Combat Arms Training Management (CATM) Firing Range will be shared with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Money for the project was included in President Obama's budget in 2015. Mike Coates Construction of Niles was awarded the contract to build the range the following year.
