CAMPBELL, Ohio - The mayor of Campbell took to his official Facebook page Friday to clarify a ruling to remove all non-official decals from city vehicles.

Residents called 21 News about the report of a decision to the remove decals, which reportedly included the Campbell City Schools' logo, causing confusion for some.

In a Facebook post, Campbell Mayor Nick Phillips said the past administrations allowed city department heads to place decals for brands including Looney Tunes, Marvel and DC Comics on city vehicles.

"I asked my department heads to remove unnecessary decals from all city vehicles in order to present a professional image of the city at all times. Marvel and DC Comic stickers and emblems, or any emblem that is not the city seal, does not belong on government vehicles," Phillips said.

In the post, he said that the Campbell Schools' logo may have been one of the decals on some city vehicles and that "disgruntled employees who are not happy with the removal of their comic book stickers are trying to make this issue about our schools."

Phillips said he made the ruling to clean up the city's image and it had nothing to do with the school.

The mayor wrote that he is a proud alumnus of Campbell Memorial High School and "wholeheartedly" supports the city's schools.

21 News reached out to the superintendent of Campbell Schools, Matthew Bowen.

The superintendent said the school has a healthy relationship with the mayor.
