YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - People who got parking tickets while hunkering down during Monday's lockdown on the Youngstown State University Campus won't have to pay them, according to Youngstown Law Director Jeff Limbian. But they still need to call the police department.

After the lockdown was lifted, students called the 21 Newsroom complaining that tickets were placed on their cars and trucks while they were confined to buildings on campus.

One picture of a ticket was shared hundreds of times on Facebook.

Youngstown Police Lt. Bill Ross tells 21 News that YPD doesn't issue the tickets, but contracts an outside company to do so.

That company, ABM was not aware of the lockdown, according to Limbian who tells 21 News that anyone who received a ticket between 11 am and 2 pm Monday may contact the YPD Traffic Division, and they will be forgiven and not have to pay the ticket.

The Youngstown Police Department may be reached at 330-747-9324.
