BEAVER TWP., Ohio - South Avenue has been reopened following a hit and run incident involving a utility pole early this morning.

The road was shut down between East Western Reserve Road and Woodworth Road but was reopened just after 10:00 am. 

Dispatchers tell 21 News the driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene on foot and has not yet been located by police.

Police say the driver hit a utility pole and flipped their car on South Avenue near East Western Reserve Road just before 4:00 am.

Ohio Edison was called to repair that utility pole.

The Canfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
