The West Middlesex baseball team captured its first ever state championship, and made history along the way.

The Big Reds defeated Greenwood in the Class A finale 2-1.  Chase Tomko's sacrifice fly drove home the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.

West Middlesex becomes the first Mercer County school to win a state championship since Wilmington in 1981, and the first to make an appearance in 19 years.

It's been a special year for Big Reds Athletics, the girls basketball team was the first program to make an appearance in the title game this season.

West Middlesex finishes the season with a record of 23-1.
