WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man is in jail, accused of leading state troopers and police from Howland and Warren on a high-speed chase that lasted more than 15 minutes and left two police cruisers damaged.
Maurice Cox, 31, is scheduled for arraignment in Warren Municipal Court Thursday on multiple charges of felonious assault, failure to comply with police, and obstructing official business filed by Warren and Howland Township Police.
According to 911 records, Cox rammed his PT Cruiser into a Howland police car and struck another police cruiser during a pursuit that began at the Elm Road Taco Bell and reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour through Howland and Warren Streets as well as through several yards.
When the car crashed near Deemer Park on the Southwest Side of Warren, police say the driver took off on foot.
Officers from Warren and Howland caught up with the suspect, using a Taser to subdue him.
