North Jackson store clerk accused of stealing lottery tickets
A Campbell woman fired from a North Jackson store for allegedly stealing lottery tickets ended up in jail after complaining to police about not getting her paycheck.
Jackson police arrested 26-year-old Alexa Opencar on Thursday and booked her into the Mahoning County jail on a charge of theft.
Police say Opencar called them Sunday saying she had just been fired from the North Jackson Convenience Mart and wanted to know if her former employer could hold her paycheck.
The investigating officer said the business owner showed police store surveillance video of Opencar allegedly taking tickets out of the lottery machine without paying for them, and scratching off the numbers.
Opencar then would allegedly take money from the store's register to collect money from the winning tickets.
According to the police report, Opencar collected $200 from winning tickets on that day.
Opencar will be arraigned in Austintown court.
