Lordstown autoworkers vote Wednesday on GM contract

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Members of United Autoworkers Local 1112 will vote Wednesday on the tentative contract agreement with General Motors.
Leaders of the UAW that represent employees from the now idled GM Assembly Plant in Lordstown have scheduled a membership voter from 6 am to 6 pm, Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the UAW 1112 union hall.
According to a notice issued by the union, those voting must be members in good standing and retirees are not permitted to vote.
Members can learn more about the contract offer at the union hall beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Ratification meetings are underway at union locals around the country with voting with ballots due to be turned in on Friday.
The tentative pact does not require GM to bring a new vehicle to replace the Chevy Cruze, which ended production at Lordstown earlier this year. The proposal does include an assistance package for displaced Lordstown workers.
The contract requires a majority vote by UAW members around the country for ratification.
