The Canfield School District announced a new school board member tonight.

Nader Atway will fill the position that was left by Craig Olson, who announced his resignation the same day the Board voted to accept Superintendent Alex Geordan's resignation.

Olson served on the board for ten years but said his vision no longer matched the current board majority.

Geordan's decision to step down came amid scrutiny after police said the school had a history of failing to report serious threats to them.

Atway is a local parent and community member that has been active within the district.
