"People have driven an hour and a half to get masks driven home, sewn them and brought them back. It's incredible what's going on out there, the American spirit alive and well!"

That's what the CEO of GLI Pool Products had to say about all the people who are helping them make masks.

Two weeks ago, GLI Pool Products, joined the fight against the COVID-19 virus. Utilizing their expertise in sewing and cutting safety products for the pool industry, they switched their business over to start cutting material for masks for the medical community.

So far 50,000 masks mave been made and turned over to first responders and hospital staff.
Businesses, church groups, and at-home volunteers have come forward to help sew the masks.

For example, people at a Dover ohio factory are sewing them in their free time. They've picked up over a thousand.

"We have a lot of sewers and quilters in our organizations and it was kind of a perfect fit. 1.57.31 our first 500 were sewn by about ten associates or their family members of friends now our army has grown to about double that," said Janine Garber of Allied Machine and Engineering in Dover.

Since the demand continues to grow GLI is reaching out to the community for more help!

GLI is hosting a "Safe Pick-Up" at their Youngstown Headquarters at 215 Sinter Court on Thursday, April 9th from 10 a.m. - Noon for sewers to pick up mask kits.
