Boardman Police officer recovering from COVID-19, expected to return next week

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Boardman Police Department has announced that one of their officers has tested positive for the coronavirus.
They say the officer suddenly experienced flu like symptoms and immediately self-quarantined at home after talking with the department and his health care provider.
According to BPD, the officer recovered quickly and was not hospitalized.
He is expected to return to work next week after he is cleared by medical personnel and CDC guidelines.
Boardman Police say they have strict sanitizing protocols at their facilities and actively clean their equipment and cruisers. Each department member has their temperature taken at the start of their shift and social distancing has been implemented throughout the department.
The Department urges the public to comply with the stay at home order to keep everyone healthy. They say to continue to follow the order through the peak period as the virus will be more prevalent during that time.
