UTEP announces plans for research center expansion in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Two research centers at The University of Texas El Paso have announced plans to collaborate with Youngstown State University and local businesses.
The expansion of UTEP's W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation and the NASA MIRO Center for Space Exploration and Technology Research will focus on advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense technologies according to an article on the UTEP website.
UTEP plans to open a unit in the area. Youngstown's America Makes company is listed as one of the reasons for UTEP's unit opening in the area.
Professor and Director of UTEP's Keck Center Ryan Wicker, Ph.D. called the presence of YSU and America Makes "a tremendous opportunity."
The partnership hopes to bridge two of the biggest manufacturing hubs in the U.S. in El Paso and Youngstown.
Academic collaboration in manufacturing and hypersonic technologies are also planned according to the UTEP website.
