Cortland Police arrested a man Tuesday following a chase in the city.

The chase happened around 2:20 p.m. on North High Street from State Route 11.

Police say the suspect, 36-year-old Geovanny Davila Pastrana, struck a State Highway Patrol cruiser prior to the chase.

According to the release, Cortland officers were setting up stop sticks when Pastrana made a U-turn in a front yard and was struck by a Highway Patrol cruiser that was attempting to box him in and end the pursuit.

Pastrana continued to flee, leading two officers to hit his car to stop the chase.

Officers detained Pastrana and found a loaded handgun on him.

He is facing multiple felony charges including felonious assault on a police officer, fleeing and eluding and weapons under disability.

Two Cortland officers suffered minor injuries during the chase.
