Ohio sets new daily record at 2,425; Mahoning Co. enters into 'high incidence' category

The Ohio Department of Health is reporting 179,424 confirmed COVID cases on Thursday, Oct. 22, with 11,006 probable cases. The state hit a new daily high record of 2,425 cases in the last day, with the 21-day average of 1,672 cases.
The state had 12 additional deaths since Wednesday, and a total of 5,161 deaths to date. Hospitalizations are also on the rise, with 159 additional hospitalizations across the state in the last 24 hours, and 17,682 hospitalizations since mid-March.
The positivity rate of those tested in the state for Oct. 20 was 6 percent, with the seven-day rate at 5 percent.
Mahoning County entered into the high incidence for the first time, meaning the spread rate is high.
According to the state, Mahoning County has 3,494 confirmed cases, with 215 probable cases, an increase of 46 COVID cases. Hospitalizations are are 557, an increase of three in the county in the last day, and 286 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Trumbull County is reporting 2,254 confirmed cases, 16 probable cases, an overall increase of 23 cases since Wednesday. The county has 379 hospitalizations, an increase of 5 cases in the last day, and 134 deaths.
Columbiana County has 2,101 confirmed cases, 27 probable cases, and an increase of 14 cases. There were no new hospitalizations on Wednesday from COVID, but 235 have occurred since the beginning of the pandemic, and 87 deaths.
