Thousands of absentee votes are already being processed ahead of Election Day with results of early voting and absentee being revealed on Election Day at 7:30 p.m.

Appearing exclusively on WFMJ Weekend Today, Secretary of State Frank LaRose said absentee ballots could make a huge impact on Ohio's results.

"If a lot of people are returning absentee ballots at the last minute, then that's what could cause results to come in later," LaRose said.

While the Mahoning County Board of Elections says the majority of absentee ballots will be counted before Election Day, if you've been late submitting your absentee, they have up until November 13 to process your ballot.

"As long as that ballot comes in with the postmark 10 days out, we can still take that and count that ballot," said Tom McCabe, Deputy Director, Mahoning County Board of Elections.

"We have a few voters that have been calling us saying they haven't gotten their absentee ballots as of today [Monday]," McCabe said.

If you still haven't received your ballot or haven't confirmed it's been processed, you must vote in person on Election Day.

The Board of Elections said the best way to check and see if your absentee was processed would be checking their website or giving them a call.

"It's a great safety net that over 95% of those provisional ballots will end up being counted and put into the official results," McCabe said.
