After several days of ballot counts and uncertainty, the country has chosen its newest president.

Democrat Joe Biden officially won Pennsylvania Saturday, putting him over the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.

Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Mike Kelly sent a statement to 21 News Saturday afternoon that said:

"In our representative republic, it is not the media who declares the winner of elections. Right now, the Trump Campaign is engaged in several court cases to determine the integrity of the vote in multiple states. None of those states have officially certified their vote counts, and investigations into voting irregularities are ongoing. The winner of the election will be determined by the law, not media projections."

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Casey congratulated Biden on his historic win.

"I congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victory in this campaign. It's now time to unite and heal our Nation so we can build back better. Coming together as one Nation, we can defeat the virus, rebuild our economy for workers and families and provide a brighter future for our children."

-U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA)

Governor Tom Wolf went to Twitter to say in the coming days and weeks, there needs to be unity so we can rebuild the economy, fight the spread of COVID-19, and help all Pennsylvanians and Americans realize a vision of a better future.

He also thanked the election officials who helped count the votes.

However, for Ohio, this is the first time in 60 years the state has not determined the next president.

It didn't surprise Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.

"President-Elect Joe Biden's story is one of loss, perseverance, and strength. He is a good and wise man, and his election proves that our country is choosing truth, decency, and unity over lies and division. Our country needs his and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris's leadership now more than ever. We have work to do to address the challenges facing us: this pandemic, crippling inequality, systemic racism, climate change, and creating an economy that works for everyone. Biden and Harris are ready to restore hope and civility to the White House, come together to keep our democracy strong, and ensure that all work has dignity in this country."

-U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH)

Meanwhile, Republican Congressman Bill Johnson went to Twitter, saying the election is not over until all legal ballots are counted.
