Youngstown City School meal program to resume this week

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A program that children in Youngstown depend on for their daily meals pick back up on Wednesday.
The weekly program was suspended in November after the area saw a spike in coronavirus cases.
The Youngstown City School District’s food distribution program will begin offering food for pick up on Wednesday Dec. from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at East, Chaney, Paul C. Bunn, Volney Rodgers, Martin Luther King, Harding, Wilson and Williamson.
“I know a lot of families depend on our meal distribution program and I’m happy that we’re able to start it back up again,” Justin Jennings said, CEO of the YCSD.
The distribution is a curbside service that provides seven breakfasts and seven lunches per student each week. Families are asked to pull up to the distribution site with their vehicle trunks open.
Food service staff will be on hand to pack the items inside.
The program has a limit of five meal packages per vehicle. If a family has more than five students enrolled, permission must be granted by the school for more to be loaded into one vehicle.
