WARREN, Ohio -  A Warren man cited by zoning officials for having nearly a dozen cars on his property has been arrested.

David Martin, 37, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail Monday after being arrested on warrants issued for failure to appear in municipal court to answer charges of obstructing official business and violating the city’s property maintenance rules.

According to a police report, Martin tried to stop zoning officials from towing 11 vehicles from his yard at 1051 Wood Avenue this past September.

Zoning officials told officers that the vehicles either didn't work, didn't have valid registrations, or violated rules against being parked in a yard.

The police report says Martin threatened to file theft charges against anyone taking his cars and then used his car to block a tow truck from entering his property.

Police issued a court summons to Martin, who pleaded not guilty in October. However, a warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest when he didn’t show up in court for a follow-up hearing on December 1.

Martin was arrested at his home on Monday and entered a not guilty plea during a hearing on Tuesday.
