BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A Youngstown man who told police he was on a mission to buy condoms at around midnight is in the Mahoning County jail along with his girlfriend following their arrest in Boardman.

Township officers say when they stopped 29-year-old Andrew Howard behind the closed Family Video building on Market Street late Tuesday, he told them he was on his way to buy condoms at a gas station and was in a hurry to get back to his girlfriend at the Town & Country Motel.

According to the report, Howard said his girl would get mad if he took too long.

Police say after detecting the odor of marijuana, they found that Howard was carrying six baggies of pot, pills, and a white powder.

Officers who went to the motel say 21-year-old Tabrasia Gray of Youngstown answered the door wearing only a bra and underwear. Police say they arrested her when they discovered she was trying to conceal a gun loaded with 17 rounds as she was walking to the bathroom.

According to the report, police also found a marijuana grinder, plastic baggies, pills, and marijuana wraps in the room.

The report says both suspects were uncooperative when taken in for booking.

Both were charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and parole violations.

Howard was also charged with cocaine possession and drug trafficking.

Gray, who police say kicked and struck officers, was also booked on charges of tampering with evidence, assaulting a police officer, intimidation of a public servant, and retaliation.

Both are scheduled for arraignment Thursday afternoon.
