JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Mahoning County, Ohio - A man suspected of dragging a Jackson Township police officer with his car last year has been indicted.

A Mahoning County Grand Jury indicted Nicholas Roman, 24, Thursday on felony charges including attempted murder, felonious assault, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer and obstructing official business.

Back in September, an officer was making a routine traffic stop because Roman did not have a visible license plate. During the stop, police say Roman grabbed onto the officer and took off.

Jackson Township Police Chief Greg Taillon said the suspect's car went into the other lane at the time to try and sideswipe another vehicle to get the officer off.

The officer was dragged down the road. He was able to eventually free himself when the car slowed down.

Police say Roman then fled in the area of Route 45 near Chuck's Greenhouses. Officials later arrested Roman in Ravenna.

The officer involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
