Utopia shooting victim's mother says her son was a target due to criminal past

YOUNGSTOWN - Police are still looking for a suspect in the Utopia shooting this past weekend that killed 27-year-old Charles Allen.
At her son's vigil, Aleesha Bell says she believes her son was in fact a target at Utopia early Saturday morning.
She claims this was not the first time her son was a target by the same suspects.
She says this was the third attempt at killing Allen after shooting at his mother's house a few years back.
While police do not have enough evidence to pinpoint a suspect, Bell says Allen being targeted revolves around a previous situation.
"THESE PEOPLE HAD IT IN FOR MY SON. SINCE MY SON WAS ACQUITTED OF A MURDER. THAT'S THE REASON WHY MY SON WAS MURDERED," said Bell.
Bell is referring to a murder Allen was acquitted for back in 2018.
Allen had a lengthy criminal history dating back several years including the most recent charges back in 2020 of kidnapping, felonious assault, and rape.
