WARREN, Ohio - A Trumbull County man awaits sentencing after a rape investigation involving a minor.

41-year-old Theodore Fecko III of Liberty was found guilty of rape Wednesday after an investigation into a sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl last summer.

The incident happened last July when the 12-year-old was at a friend's home.

Fecko is the friend's uncle and was convicted of assaulting the girl at the home on that day.

After the incident the victim immediately called her parents and her parents contacted police.

The Prosecutor's Office told 21 News there's only one sentence for the charge, a mandatory life sentence with parole eligibility after 10-years.

"We need people to come forward and disclose when there's been abuse and this kind of case shows that there can be a successful prosecution. The jury paid very close attention over the last two days and really gave it their all. We really appreciate that the system worked this time," said Diane Barber, Chief of the Trumbull County Child Assault Prosecution Division.

Fecko III is now awaiting sentencing on May 13.
