Senator visits mass vaccination clinic in Youngstown

As Senator Sherrod Brown walked the mass vaccination clinic in Youngstown, he talked vaccine outreach and the importance of getting Ohioans vaccinated.
"The same people that are denying..that are climate deniers, are denying the efficacy of the vaccine," said U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown. "And that's why prominent people like the people behind me, speaking out and doing what they're doing is so important," he said.
Brown says fear is one of the major vaccine deterrents. Community leaders are doing what they can to get as many vaccinated as possible.
With vaccine numbers still on a down trend, the Minority Health Division has taken an approach to utilize young individuals who can influence their peers to get vaccinated.
"We will have ambassadors that are actually going to go out into the community to encourage those individuals who we are missing, you know," said Leigh Greene, Director of the Youngstown Local Office on Minority Health. "That population that has not been vaccinated yet, to encourage them to get vaccinated," she said.
"There's no real evidence out there, that people should be afraid of this vaccine. the way to do this is continue the public efforts, continue to tell people's stories," said Brown.
Community leaders say the bottom line here is to make the vaccine accessible, destroy all barriers and educate our people.
