An outdoor spring craft and vendor market is set for Saturday in downtown Newton Falls.

What's being called the first annual Spring Peddler will be underway May 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on West Broad Street. The event is free to the public.

There are around 60 vendors at this point that will be set up on West Broad Street from Canal to Center Street. The vendors feature local businesses that specialize in everything from woodworking and wreath making to painting and nail art.

President of the Newton Falls Commerce Association Pam Priddy says they sponsored the event to help small businesses in Newton Falls, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She says events like this bring people into town to shop local.

Priddy noted they were hoping for at least 25 vendors. Since they exceeded that goal, they will do the event again next year.

Along with the vendors that will be spaced apart to observe social distancing, there will also be a couple of food trucks.

Business owners who may still be interested in setting up a stand can register via Eventbrite. Spaces are available for $30 a spot between West Broad Street and Center Street.
