YOUNGSTOWN -  Members of Youngstown City Council next week are scheduled to consider objections to the renewal of liquor permits of three liquor establishments, including a bar that is near the site of last week’s deadly shootings on the West Side.

Council’s agenda for Wednesday’s meeting includes a measure that would ask the state not to renew the liquor permit of the Torch Club on Salt Springs Road, allegedly because the bar has been disregarding laws, regulations, and local ordinances.

“The location of the establishment substantially and adversely interferes with public decency, sobriety, peace, or good order of the neighborhood,” according to the agenda item.

It was early last Sunday that five men were shot outside the bar.  Two of those victims, 23-year-old Rayshaun Clay, and 19-year-old Mikquan Stevens died from their wounds.

Council will consider asking the Ohio Liquor Control Commission to hold hearings on renewing the Torch Club license, as well as the Downtown Circle on Federal Street and the All-City Sports Bar on Mahoning Avenue due to alleged disregard for regulations.

The All-City Sports Bar has been closed and boarded up by court order since August after police cited the business several times in June, July, and August for violating the state health order about patrons congregating with no social distancing measures in place.
