WARREN, Ohio - Warren City Council is expected to seek federal help in paying for a $1.2 million project to replace the Packard Park pedestrian and bike bridge over the Mahoning River.
An item on next week’s council agenda includes an emergency ordinance asking the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments to provide $1,020,000 from the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program for the project’s construction and engineering. The city’s share of the cost would be $255,000.
The bridge connecting Packard Park with Tod Avenue NW over the Mahoning River was shut down after engineers found parts of the bridge had rusted through.
Council is scheduled to consider the measure on Wednesday.
