YOUNGSTOWN -  A child rape case that’s been in court for four years has ended with a Youngstown man being sent to prison.

Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney on Wednesday Sentenced 55-year-old Todd Perkins to 15 years in the state penitentiary.

Perkins was indicted in 2019 on six counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition after authorities say he raped a four-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl.

Last month he was convicted of two counts of rape after pleading no contest to those charges.

As part of his sentence, Perkins will have to register as a Tier Three Sex Offender when he completes his jail term.

Perkins was first secretly indicted in 2017 on charges filed in connection with the four-year-old victim.

That case was dismissed when the new indictment was handed up adding charges for the older child.
