CHAMPION TWP., Ohio - The Champion Schools teachers' union issued a statement Thursday in regard to the Notice of Intent to Strike that was send to the Champion School Board after recent negotiations.

In their press release, the teachers' union stated "We believe that a fair and equitable contract is the best way to maintain high-quality teachers in our community."

This comes after a statement from the Champion School Board yesterday, that mentioned the teachers are asking for hundreds of thousands of more dollars than the district is currently offering them.

The school board also states that as it currently stands, Champion teachers will recieve the highest raises of any school in Trumbull County during this negotion year.

The union says they hope to reach a fair and equitable contract for Champion teachers before the beginning of the school year.

They ask that community members reach out to the Superindendent and Champion School Board and urge them to negotiate a fair and equitable contract.
