NEWTON TWP, Ohio - Newton Falls City Manager David Lynch revealed an idea Monday for a covered bridge with an estimated price tag of $2.5 million.

Lynch presented mock-ups of how he would like the West Branch Bridge to look if the idea gets traction. He said he's been working with a company called Smolen Engineering that has experience with this kind of project.

The proposed covered bridge would have features like an upper-level walkway, waterfall features and the ability to hold private events like weddings.

The bridge will make a wonderful spot for parties in Pittsburgh. They always close the bridges in Pittsburgh and have street parties. I can see this bridge easily being closed off for wedding receptions or any kind of party," said Kevin Grippi, Project Manager at Smolen Engineering.

Lynch is looking into finding state and federal grants to cover the cost before bringing the plans to city council.

As far as Lynch's status with the city, council will go into executive session Thursday to discuss his current employment.
