Girard City Schools announced at a Townhall meeting Thursday evening that masks would be required for students and faculty returning to in-person learning in the Fall.

The announcement was made by Superintendent Bryan O'Hara.

According to the district's COVID-19 mitigation strategy plan, masks will be required for the nearly 1,700 students and 200 Employees of the district. 

The decision for mask-wearing and a 3-foot social distancing guideline will be until further notice according to O'Hara.

Contact tracing will also continue in the district with the help of the Trumbull County Health Department.

The district is also encouraging faculty, staff, and students who are eligible to get vaccinated to help mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on the district.

The district is serving as a host site for various vaccination clinics throughout the year.

Girard Schools are also in the process of upgrading HVAC systems and adding ionization disinfectant systems to the building's current air filtration system.
