A Jackson Township man spent his 63rd birthday in the Mahoning County jail after being arrested on child rape and other charges outlined in an indictment.

The county grand jury last week handed up the indictment charging Ronald Timlin with rape, attempted rape, and gross sexual imposition.

According to authorities, sometime between September 2016 and August 2017, Timlin raped a child who was nine years old at the time.

The indictment says the same child was victimized by Timlin in 2019 when he allegedly attempted to rape the child.

Timlin was arrested on Friday and was arraigned in common pleas court on Tuesday.

Another court hearing is scheduled for next week.
