Mahoning Valley Historical Society unveils new acquisition

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The MVHS recently purchased a 1905 Mahoning Touring Car, which originally belonged to Warren P. Williamson Sr., who was an executive and shareholder at the Mahoning Motor Car Company.
The Mahoning Motor Car Company, which was formerly Youngstown Carriage and Wagon Company, made about 90 automobiles between 1904-1905, but the automobile acquired by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society is the only surviving car from the Mahoning Motor Company.
The new item was unveiled by Warren P. Williamson's grandson, Warren P. "Bud" Williamson the III in the lobby of the Tyler History Center in Downtown Youngstown.
The car was fully restored by Poland, Ohio native Dick Best. He completed the restoration in 1975 after 3 years of work. Best won National First Prize from the Antique Automobile Club of America.
The car was specially built for Warren P. Williamson as his private car and will not be a part of a regular display at the Tyler History Center.
