Jamel A. Chatman has been indicted on one count of aggravated robbery, one count of robbery, and one count of felonious assault.

In August, 2021, Chatman was arrested for allegedly beating a mother with a hammer in front of her children.

Autumn Hines claims that Chatman attacked Hines with a hammer in front of her 5 year old twin children because Hines asked Chatman to move out of the home Hines rented through a YWMCA program.

Hines said the situation escalated when she asked Chatman to move out of the home, since Chatman's name was not on the lease.

Hines claims she was driving between Gibson and Cameron around 1:00p.m. when Chatman drove in front of her car to get her to stop. Chatman then entered the car and started to assault Hines.

Hines says her children were very upset by the situation, and that another person who was with Chatman was trying to remove the kids from the scene so they wouldn't have to witness the situation.

Hines also accused Chatman of taking her car keys, and now claims that she can no longer use her car because she is unable to get a new key.

Chatman has been indicted for possessing a deadly weapon at the scene of the incident, and use of a deadly weapon against Hines. Chatman has also been indicted for the attempt to inflict or threaten to inflict physical harm on Hines.
