YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown woman has been placed on probation for the next five years for fatally stabbing a man on the city's east side more than two years ago.

Ashely Eiland, 33, was sentenced on Monday after pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter. Murder and felonious assault charges were dropped. 

Eiland was accused of fatally stabbing 36-year-old Eugene Jones Jr. in June 2019.

Police found Jones inside a Kendis Circle apartment on the bathroom floor.

Eiland was previously charged with endangering children in August 2018 after police discovered an unbearable odor at her home.

Police said there were three small children in the home at the time of the incident.

The residence was filled with garbage and police said there were dirty beds and dead flies in the residence.

As part of Eiland's sentence, she must complete a psychological program and Community Corrections.
