The Youngstown State University football team's three game losing streak is no more, after the Penguins defeated MVFC rival Missouri State, 41-33 at Stambaugh Stadium Saturday.

The Penguins struck first as Demeatric Crenshaw hit Samuel St. Surin on a 28-yard connection in the endzone during the first quarter.

Colten McFadden added a 45 yard field goal in the second quarter, giving the Penguins a 9-0.

After a Bears field goal, Crenshaw and the Penguins went back to work as Demeatric unloaded a strong 8-yard throw to Jorge Portorreal to make it a 17-3 game right before halftime.

After Tyrone Scott caught a 21 yard touchdown pass from Missouri State's Jason Shelley make it 17-10, McFadden added another field goal for the Penguins, pushing their lead to 20-10.

A Bears field goal made it 20-13 in the fourth quarter. Shelley then hit Ron Tiavaasue on a pass out of the flat. Tiavaasue walked into the endzone and with a PAT, Missouri State had tied the game at 20-20 with 4:38 remaining in the game.

That's when Jaleel McLaughlin took over the rest of the way. On the ensuing drive, following a big kickoff return from St. Surin, McLaughlin burst 22 yards for the go-ahead score, putting the Penguins on top 27-20.

After a punt from the Bears, McLaughlin made his presence felt once more with a 60-yard sprint to the goal line, giving the Penguins a 34-20 edge.

Missouri State scored after that with just over a minute remaining, but Crenshaw officially sealed the deal with a 73-yard touchdown run.

The final score of 41-33 takes the Penguins to 2-3 on the season overall, and 1-2 in conference play, all while handing Missouri State their first conference loss.

Crenshaw had a terrific game both through the air and on the ground. He threw 19 passes, completing 10, for 99 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. On the ground, Crenshaw rumbled for 195 yards on 22 carries and added another TD.

Right behind him was Jaleel McLaughlin, who carried the ball 19 times for 156 yards and the two late-game touchdowns.

The Penguins have their second bye week of the season next week, before returning to action at Indiana State on Oct. 23.
