Columbiana County firefighters assisting tornado recovery efforts

CALCUTTA, Ohio - Three firefighters from Columbiana County are volunteering to help recovery efforts following the devasting tornado outbreak that claimed the lives of at least 88 people in five states.
Calcutta Fire Chief Dave McCoy and Firefighter Randy Schneider have been deployed to Bowling Green and Mayfield, Kentucky to help in search and rescue operations and clean up from the storms.
Accompanied by Hanover Township Firefighter Tim Roush, the trio left for the damaged area at midnight Monday. W
The crew is taking a pickup truck, chainsaws water and supplies.
This will be the second rescue mission Calcutta Fire Dept has answered in the last year to assist in disaster relief.
In August, Schneider and other firefighters traveled to Louisiana to take part in search and rescue efforts following Hurricane Ida.
