HUBBARD, Ohio - Hubbard Township Trustees agreed to put two renewal levies on the ballot in order to help police department operations.

The trustees say it's necessary to keep these levies running and would be no extra cost to taxpayers.

They went on to say that it's necessary for not one, but both levies to be passed in order to keep the department's operations working sufficiently.

In addition, one part time officer, Ronald Reeds was promoted to full time by trustees to help strengthen the force.

However, the department is still in need of more hires due to staffing shortages. Hubbard Township Police Chief Greg Tarr tells 21 News that it's tough to find part time officers now due to low pay.

"I think the part time officer idea is going away. It's tough to find them for full time, let alone 12 to 13 dollars an hour part time," Tarr said.
