Many citizens living on side streets in Youngstown have some frustration with the city of Youngstown, as some side streets have yet to be plowed as of Friday evening.

While main roads and highways are fairly clear from this week's winter storm, side roads, specifically in Youngstown are now the focus for plow crews headed into Saturday morning.

City officials told 21 News most side streets are starting to get plowed late Friday night.

"They don't want to plow the side streets, I don't get it," explained Raymond Waller of Youngstown's west side. Raymond had to dig his wife's car out of the snow and is still waiting for a plow truck to clear his street as of Friday at 10 p.m. He noticed dozens of cars getting stuck on several side streets that lacked plows.

Raymond helped our 21 News car get out of the snow Friday evening.

"I've seen a couple people out here got stuck on my street today," Waller added.

"It seems like they skip my street every time they're plowing," said Devin Davis of Youngstown's south side. "This happens every year."

Our 21 News team spotted Davis while he was out shoveling his road. Davis had to miss work Friday because his road was not cleared. As of Friday at 10 p.m., his street still has yet to be touched by crews.

"I have elderly neighbors, too," Davis said. "I was plowing the street so I can at least get out of my driveway then I just started doing the rest of the street."

Our 21 News car was no match against the unplowed snow.

Davis along with 2 kind Samaritans pushed the news car out of the unplowed road.

Kevin Flinn, Youngstown Building and Grounds Commissioner, told 21 News they hope to have all side roads cleared within the weekend. Crews also plan to continue to salt the roads.

There is also concern from local tow truck companies. Crump's Towing owner, Tom Crump told 21 News there are currently long wait times for tow trucks because of their trucks getting stuck in the snow. This means a second truck has to to be sent out to assist the first truck along with the customer.

Crews in Youngstown will continue to be out 24/7 on 12 hour shifts until the entire city is open and passable throughout the weekend.
