Mercer County, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Representative Mark Longietti announced Tuesday he will not seek reelection at the end of this term, bringing an end the his nearly 16 years in office.

Longietti has served Pennsylvania's 7th District since 2007. He will serve the remainder of this term, which ends on November 30th of 2022.

"It has been the honor of my lifetime to represent the people of the Shenango Valley and surrounding communities," said Rep. Longietti. "I am grateful for the tremendous support and confidence I have received over the years from my fellow citizens."

During his time in office, Longietti served 12 years on the House Education Committee, and currently serves as its Democratic chairman. He also served as co-chairman of the Early Childhood Education Caucus, and is a member of the Basic Education and Special Education Funding commissions.

Longietti says he is proud of the resources he brought to Mercer County while in office, including Hope Center for Arts and Technology, The Landings at the former Westinghouse Building, and the planned Hermitage Town Center Project among others.

As for Longietti's plans for the future, he says he is ready to turn to the next chapter and give back to his community in new ways.

"I like to believe we have built a strong foundation that will leave the district well positioned for continued growth," said Longietti. "The people of Mercer County are amazing people, and they deserve no less."
