Fire departments in Trumbull County neighborhoods along the Mahoning River want residents to prepare for possible flooding predicted through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, the river is predicted to reach flood stage in Leavittsburg Thursday evening, cresting at 3.6 feet above flood stage early Friday afternoon.

The Braceville Fire Department announced on its Facebook page that some roads could become impassable including Eagle Creek, McConnell East, Barclay Messerly, and Nelson Mosier Road between Route 534 and Allen Smith Road.

Drivers are advised not to travel through flooded roads because there is a chance that vehicles could become stranded or washed off the roadway.

Firefighters say residents should make sure they have stocked up on supplies if there is a chance they won’t be able to leave their homes.

Warren Township and Newton Falls Fire Departments have posted similar warnings about driving in high water.
