What is the most popular fair food in the Valley?  With so many items on the menu to choose from, the folks who organize the Canfield Fair decided that the March Madness basketball season would be a good time to find out.

The fair folks created an online “contest” forming brackets with some summertime vendor offerings.

The tournament started out with the "sweet sixteen" including hot pepper, sandwiches, funnel cakes, turkey legs, corn dogs, elephant ears, french fries, cinnamon rolls, sausage sandwiches, wok-fried noodles, lemon shakes, candy apples, cavatelli bread bowls, apple dumplings, and chicken dinners.

After the first round, the remaining dishes included hot pepper sandwiches, funnel cakes, corn dogs, french fries, sausage sandwiches, lemon shakes, cavatelli, bread bowls, and chicken dinners.

The next round of voters left funnel cakes, french fries, sausage sandwiches, and cavatelli bread bowls in the final four.

Voting ended last week with a "championship" contest. French fries are the winner getting 56% of the vote over r sausage sandwiches with 44% of the vote.

You can sample your favorite fair foods at festivals throughout the summer.  This year’s Canfield Fair runs from August 31st through Labor Day.
