A Lawrence County man has turned himself in after a nine-hour standoff at his home in Mahoning Township Monday.

Pennsylvania State Police say the standoff started at 8:30 a.m. and lasted all the way until 5:30 p.m. at a home just off Benjamin Franklin Highway on Route 422.

Police say the standoff resulted from the suspect allegedly making threats on social media. Police showed up to the house to serve a mental health warrant.

When police showed up, the man refused to be taken into police custody and hid inside of his house prompting police to call the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) to the scene.

The standoff ended once the man turned himself in at 5:30.

The nature of the alleged threats and whether or not the man had any weapons on him is unknown at this time.
