Trumbull Regional Medical Center reverified as Level III Trauma Center
Trumbull Regional Medical Center has been reverified as a Level III Trauma Center.
The verification is done by the Verification Review Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
The COT program was started in 1987 and promotes the development of trauma care.
To be a verified trauma center, hospitals must meet certain criteria for trauma care capability and performance.
Trauma centers with the verification provide the highest quality of care for all injured patients and undergo a rigorous review by a team of reviewers.
"Being reverified as a Level III Trauma Center demonstrates our commitment to always providing the highest quality of emergency and trauma care to the community" said Dr. Penelope Mashburn, General Surgeon, Trauma Medical Director. "Everyone on our trauma team plays a vital role in our reverification, including nursing and clinical staff, general surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, critical care physicians, and our quality team."
The emergency department at TRMC has 24-hour coverage that has expertise in resuscitation, emergency operations, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients.
They are also the Mahoning Valley's only accredited chest pain center.
