Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade and states such as Ohio signing bills restricting most abortions after the first six weeks of pregnancy, Valley Congressman Tim Ryan is calling for federal legislation to protect the personal health data of women seeking reproductive care.

In a statement made on video, Ryan says it is now more urgent than ever that the federal government acts swiftly to prevent politicians from requiring companies to turn over private data from search histories and health tracker apps to apprehend women from getting an abortion.

Ryan says this is the "largest government overreach into the private lives of American citizens in the history of this country."

"And this is just the beginning. We know these extremist politicians want to continue to prosecute doctors for performing abortions, prosecute women from having abortions," Ryan said.

Ryan is co-sponsoring the "My Body, My Data" Act which if passed would limit private tech companies' ability to collect and disseminate user data and control how it is used.

Additionally, in his video, Ryan criticized his opponent JD Vance for his stance on not making an exception for cases of rape and incest calling these instances "inconveniences."

"We can't go down this road. This is dangerous, this is extreme, this is a violation of basic rights here in America and I'm going to fight like hell," Ryan said.
